They have debate after debate and discuss extensively what their opponent has done or won’t do, but hardly talk about what they will do when elected. And most of the time the person elected does not follow through with all the promises they proposed when they were running. </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">A prime example of this is when many voters felt that President Bill Clinton did not keep his promise to govern as a moderate “new Democrat.” They pointed to tax increases, <st1:city><st1:place>Clinton</st1:place></st1:city>’s failure to enact welfare reform and the Big Government health care program proposed by his wife Hillary. </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">So in retrospect, the change in parties does not always constitute a great change. One should realize that politicians are not always about the people and sometimes do have other motives. You may ask why they are in politics if they don’t have the American people’s best interest at heart. Unfortunately I can’t answer that, but we must not be naive to the fact that politicians may say anything to win an election. </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">Though not all politicians are hot air balloons, Americans must be conscious of these findings and make politicians accountable for their shortcomings.
